Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 22, 2026

MP4 to GIF Converter ("the Extension") helps you convert video files to GIFs entirely inside your browser. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we collect — and what we do not.

Summary

Information we collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit your videos, GIFs, filenames, or conversion settings to our servers. All processing is performed locally on your computer using WebAssembly (ffmpeg.wasm) inside the Extension popup.

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or browsing history through the Extension.

How your files are handled

When you select a video, it is read from your device into browser memory for conversion. Output GIFs are kept in local browser memory until you download them or close the popup. We do not have access to your files at any point.

Permissions

The Extension uses a minimal Manifest V3 configuration:

Third-party services

The Extension popup may load the Inter font from Google Fonts for display purposes. Google may receive standard request data (such as IP address) when fonts are fetched. Video and GIF content is never sent to Google or any other third party for conversion.

Data retention

Because we do not collect personal data or upload your media, there is no user data retained on our servers. Temporary data in browser memory is cleared when you close the Extension popup or restart the conversion queue.

Children's privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
